Tomorrow’s Leaves // a short film by Studio Ponoc

Every now and then I encounter a short film that moves and inspires me. The latest one is a brand new animated short film by The Olympic Foundation for Culture and Heritage, called Tomorrow’s Leaves.

The film debuted at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival last month, and was created for this year's Tokyo Olympics.

Inspired by the Olympic values of excellence, friendship and respect, the film is created by Studio Ponoc. The director, Yoshiyuki Momose, along with many of the artists involved, are former employees of the legendary Studio Ghibli.

The hand-drawn magical realism brings a light-hearted, whimsical perspective to the Olympic values of excellence, friendship and respect. The music, composed by Takatsugu Muramatsu, compliments this beautiful adventure perfectly.

Overall this short film left me wanting more, I look forward to seeing what Studio Ponoc produces next.

Enjoy!
